I would suspect that the merits of a fair trial outweighed the merits of hiding

With respect, we can only speculate on what the nature of the information is and
therefore any view on whether the Judge is being reasonable is built on flimsy
foundations. I seem to recall SCO making claims about their proprietary
information being divulged only for that information to be shown to be part of
BSD. At this stage we don't know what information is to be revealed and how
critical that is to Google's operation (it may be an estimate of how much Google
expect to make from the official Larry Page Swimsuit Calendar 2013, for all I
know).
It may not be information that Google wants to share with the rest of the world
but that doesn't mean the harm outweighs the principle for justice to be open.
