I think the old Array.java one came first. But the point is more that Google
contributed a giant improvement to Sun/Oracle, with a few small lines that could
possibly be seen as a copy of some older code, and that contribution was happily
accepted, praised even if you read the mailing list thread. Nobody even noticed
or cared about those few lines because they seemed fine after peer review.

So really, all they have are these 9 lines of code, they themselves ship in
their free and open version, including all of Google's TimSort improvements,
which they even brag about in their release notes?
