From the context you can clearly see that the APIs they're
talking
about are the Android APIs from the Android
framework, not the Java
APIs.
You are missing the oracle view - the Android APIs
are copied from the copyrighted (sic) [Oracle's] Java APIs and so are a
derivative/the same.
If you were to design a tablet, say, which was a
rectangle with rounded corners and advertise it you would clearly be talking
about your device, especially if you're emphasising the Health and Safety aspect
of the rounded edges - Megacorp however, may object because you were infringing
their copyright on rectangles with rounded corners; talking about your
item does not negate that it may not be originally yours and is actually copied
