Facebook is safe for private data?

no, they need new legislation to make sure that the data they have are accurate.
It increases the value and they can charge more for it.
You have to see it the US way: has to make big money so they can continue to
pump a lot into the pockets in Washington, DC.

[emphasis added]. If they don't safeguard it very much today then continuing in that vein doesn't mean much (with regard to the safeguarding).
