That's the key issue.
If your business model is dying then you need a new one.
Suing for patents seems like the way to go, e.g. Microsoft
suing Barnes & Noble. The idea in those patents lawsuit is to:
1) Collect some money.
2) Cripple the competition.
IMO Google has to go after Oracle, hard, so the next guy with
that bright idea will realize that there is some cost to pay.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Well, they might go where other software giants have gone
before, switch to patent trolling! Hell, this trial is a
good first step!
Sincerely, I'm against software patent litigation, but if
there's a case where I would not entirely disapprove, it
would be when Google Strikes Back. Now, it would be
completely OOC for Google to do so, as they had chances
before, and never took them. Maybe they want to reassure
people that the patents they're getting from Motorola
Mobility aren't going to be used in a thermo-patentuar war?[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

Google must counter sue. Remember the famous quote:
All that is necessary for Oracle to succeed is for Google men to do nothing.
