Complete indistinguishable from the Old Microsoft. Except that their monopoly
abuse is going on behind that curtain. Pay no attention to the monopolist
behind the curtain![ Reply to This | Parent | # ]

It was more complex than that. They were under
court oversight until, what, a year ago? And
in my view, that was the beginning of the end
for Microsoft. Because before that trial,
mostly everyone in the public thought Microsoft
was wonderful. Vendors and competitors knew
they were not, but it was all quiet as far as
the public knew.
After the trial, and the verdict of guilty,
it was never the same for Microsoft. Its brand
was tarnished, and companies realized that each
one was not alone, that others had experienced
the same things.
Too much came out in public, including that
incredible demo of a Microsoft executive
showing a doctored demo to prove a ridiculous
point. The brand was never the same, and
I don't think it ever will be, because every
time Microsoft does something awful, like the
OOXML saga, everyone notices and they are very
willing to believe whatever surfaces, because
Microsoft's name is mud. It takes a long
time for company to die off, when they are as
rich as Microsoft, but the arrow is pointing
down.[ Reply to This | Parent | # ]
