Well, depending on your definition of "obsolete" (some would say it is
obsolete now :p), and depending on if you consider a paper/demo launch of WP8
will obsolete WP7. I doubt there will be WP8 products for sale within the next
few months. Probably closer to one year at least before we see it available in
most markets. Well, regardless of whether it is a few months or another year,
I'd still recommend avoiding WP7.

From what I've read (on Groklaw?) you should be certain sure.

WP7 will only run on a single-core processor. WP8 will only run on a dual-core.
At least, that's what I understand...
