Friday's Filings in the Bankruptcy - Forms, forms, forms
Saturday, October 06 2007 @ 08:42 AM EDT

Here are yesterday's filings in the bankruptcy. I don't see anything really exciting, just mostly orders that we already read as proposed orders and lists of who got notices. It reminds me why I didn't want to be a bankruptcy paralegal. On the other hand, it will give you a feel for what being a lawyer or paralegal is like. It isn't on a daily basis exciting high-level strategy or court theatrics. A lot of it is exactly like this list -- filing what is essentially a form, over and over, just changing the title of the thing and maybe a date or something minor in the body of the text. You do have to have the ability to tolerate tedium and repetition leading to it and more so if you are a paralegal, because of course lawyers make them do all the boring tasks. Now, personally, I like a bit of tedium in my life, and there's a calmness from doing something that you don't much have to think about, so I never minded that element. But bankruptcy filings are, to me, too much of a good thing. I think you'll see what I mean as you go down the list.

It's also possible you'll see something I've missed. And that is the real reason this field didn't appeal to me -- my brain reaches a certain level of boredom and it tunes out that channel and I either fall asleep or think about something more interesting, and I knew I'd make mistakes if I tried to function in a bankruptcy context. In fact, if you notice that I've made any mistakes -- like a document doesn't match the description, please let me know. I confess that I literally fell asleep in the middle of doing this, and while I checked when I woke up, I may have dropped a stitch because of not doing it all when it was fresh in my mind.

As always, I provide the documents as a service, because I know you find it interesting to follow the case and we want a complete historical record, but for anything that matters legally, always go by the official documents you get yourself from the docket at the courthouse.
