Off Topic stuff is like, let's build a time machine (running Linux of course),
go back in time, and make a killing on the LinkedIn IPO!

If you got 'em, post 'em, preferably the HTML in Plain Old Test mode. Easier to
cut and paste that way.

Or email 'em to Mark.

What is left to be done?
Authored by: Kilz on Thursday, May 19 2011 @ 08:08 PM EDT
SCO now has nothing on which to build a business having sold
everything. They have no source of income, and are bleeding
money hand over fist.
What is left other than to lock the doors and turn off the
lights?

Now this is sweet
Authored by: scav on Friday, May 20 2011 @ 10:33 AM EDT
As soon as the UnxiSCO deal went through, the game changed. Now all that delay does is burn money that would otherwise go to Ralph and his pals.

Actually, it's very doubtful that what was sold to UnixSCO has much value. So the game really changed when Novell won the slander of title case, coming out of it owning all relevant copyrights, and contractual powers to waive SCO's case against IBM.

But it's nice to see that even though legitimate creditors won't get paid, at least the, um, other kind won't either.

Fill in the blank: It will be over when ...
Authored by: vb on Friday, May 20 2011 @ 01:29 PM EDT

My answer: ... the lawyers realize that there is no money to pay them, and they

have been working for free.

Judge Gross could have and should have converted this to ch7 on his own -when
no reorganization plan was forthcoming. Judge Gross doesn't need a motion
from anyone to convert this mess. But he seems willing to let SCO stay in ch11

until all the totals on the monthly operating report read "$0"

Not surprised the hearing was cancelled
Authored by: electron on Monday, May 23 2011 @ 07:53 AM EDT
I'm not surprised that the hearing was canceled. Most hearings in the last year
or so have been canceled - this was nothing new.

So they've rescheduled more hearings. Who wants to bet that those too will be
canceled?

A CLA by any other name...
Authored by: Anonymous on Wednesday, May 25 2011 @ 12:07 AM EDT
The article's title -- perhaps intentionally ironic -- misrepresents the
situation. What Canonical demands is NOT a CLA, it is copyright assignment. What
the GNU project demands is NOT a copyright license agreement, but copyright
assignment (and the GNU project does not try to hide this fact). What Fedora
demands IS actually a copyright license agreement.

It is a disservice to discussion to conflate CLAs with copyright assignment.
Certainly there are further considerations, but to conflate from the outset is
destined to failure. The GNU project makes no
