Some Groklaw Web Buttons
Wednesday, May 13 2009 @ 09:27 PM EDT

Some fun stuff, for a change. Erwan has made some adorable Groklaw web buttons for you, after he noticed some folks are already making their own, and he thought you might like to have some that are official. So, if you are into web buttons, enjoy! And thank you so much Erwan, for your initiative and creativity.

One is even an animated gif. So cute:

Groklaw supporter   Groklaw supporter   Groklaw supporter   Groklaw supporter

I love watching that ship sink. I love this community. So much talent. Such a volunteer spirit. I didn't know what a web button was, when he sent them to me. I would never have thought of doing it. But it's so great to have them. We've put them on a permanent page, on the About Groklaw page, along with instructions on how to put them on your server, to link to Groklaw if you wish to show support. Or use the HTML Groklaw's tuxi left in a comment here.

We've had a wonderful time, haven't we, on Groklaw, even when under constant smear attacks? What a gift it is to have a geeky sense of humor!

The Perils Of Being A Humble End User
Authored by: TheBlueSkyRanger on Wednesday, May 13 2009 @ 10:04 PM EDT
Hey, everybody!

I am a true contradiction. On top of technology, then I run across this and
have no idea what it is.

How exactly do these things work? How do I download them and incorporate them
into a web page or something? Can I just paste them like I would a pic, or do I
need to do some HTML fu?

Dobre utka,
The Blue Sky Ranger
who wonders if he's the only one who hasn't even looked at RSS yet....

And we WILL have a wonderful time in the future!!!

Ummmm... just trying to sneak in motivation for PJ not to go away again... I bow
my head in shame for such an obvious ploy. :-)

Great piece of work. I often wish I was artistic, and could do stuff like that.

Is that the Itanic, or the SCOtanic, which I see sinking in the animated button?

I seem to remember that the original cartoon produced some controversy, to put it mildly, however most of us sensible types saw it as amusing. Who cares about what the trolls think?

GIF?

Why use an animated GIF? It's a proprietary format is it not? There are
several free formats to choose from. Why not use one of those instead?

Groklaw reveals itself ... and its agenda! . . . . . . . #;-)
Authored by: Anonymous on Thursday, May 14 2009 @ 03:36 PM EDT
Oh ho. At last Groklaw has revealed itself.
The investigative reporters will soon have a field day as
they ferret out the truth.

Now that the international Groklaw board of directors has
hired their new, high priced firm of PR experts to develop
and publish distinctive, geeky Groklaw-brand logos as web
buttons, it is a short step to massive donation drives and
geometrically increasing advertising revenues.

Groklaw will become the new social network hotspot.
Teenagers will flock here. Bloggers across the world will
begin sporting the Groklaw logo, claiming they support
truth, justice and the downfall of tyrants, while tithing
Groklaw 0.0001% of their revenues per 1000 impressions.

PJ will find herself literally rolling in dirty, old
Turkish Lira (TMM).
(for reference, see: www.oanda.com/convert/classic)

But the truth will be revealed!!!!
Clever and tireless investigative journalists and industry
insiders such as MOG and ?_fill_in_your_favorite_? will
quickly spill the beans about the secret IBM funding that
pays the dozens of journalistic staff reporters, computer
experts, pundits and team of roving private detectives
employed here.

They will discover the anti-Microsoft astroturfing rampant
here, has likely been mandated by a cabal of industry
upstarts, chief among them Mark Shuttleworth and Eric E.
Schmidt, of Ubuntu and Google, or Rob W of IBM.

It won't take long for for people to realize that Ubuntu
and Google both are strong supporters of Linux, f(r)ee
choice, good software and open source. Things that are
antithetically opposed to the position Microsoft champions.
Both Google and Groklaw seem to support naked truth, easy
access to information, deep analysis and critical
thinking, while leaving the individual to discriminate the
good from the useless. Concepts and things that destroy
the whole business model of many proprietary software
systems.

But the Groklaw agenda will be revealed.

In retrospect, it will become obvious that Groklaw was
named by Googlites, with their penchant for names
incorporating vowels and consonants. Just look at Google
and Groklaw -- notice the similar sound with the G O L.
Clearly a branding decision.

And now with Web Buttons -- Groklaw will follow Google into
becoming an advertising giant. Ubiquitous, wealthy beyond
imagination, famous in the history of computing. After all
these years, the plan is revealed, PJ is a spear, aimed at
the heart of corporate America. Having gained influence and
notoriety, like Oprah, she can sway the world to her point
of view. What power and cunning. What a clever conspiracy.

Now it's all revealed by this simple slip ....
whod a thot.

Alternative images...

A parody of McBride's keynote ad at CDXPO several years ago might also serve.

I did a few of these for a B3TA image challenge some while ago, but this was the one I liked best.
