SCO's 3Q Financial Results and Conference Call 9/6 |

SCO has announced the date for their third quarter financial results and the usual conference call to tell us all about it. It's on September 6, 2006, after the market closes. Let me see. I imagine it will go something like this: "We won't answer any questions about the litigation, but we look forward to having our case heard in court. If it weren't for the litigation draining our blood, we'd be making a living. Sorta." Just a guess. While you're waiting breathlessly, you might visit Computer Business Review. They have Part II up now, with their complete list of Open Source VIPs. Part I is here. Matthew Aslett, the editor, says: "Everyone is welcome to tell us how completely wrong the list is and make polite suggestions as to who should be on it instead here." If I ever do a list of the 20 VIPs of the media with the best sense of humor, Matt will be on it. Bob Sutor provided an interesting supplemental list. Or here's some fun, the August 16, 2006 LinuxWorld panel discussion, Celebrating 20 Years of Linux with moderator Larry Augustin and panelists Eric Raymond; Jon maddog Hall, Linux International; Chris DiBona, Google, Inc.; Dirk Hohndel, Intel.

I have no doubt that SCOG's top management is going to report the usual stellar
financial results, and the usual future prospects that are out of this world.
I have checked my crystal ball again, and I still see a boiler room in Darl the
Snarl's future.
Next!

"SCO owns the core UNIX operating system"
Haven't we debunked this line a few dozen times already?[ Reply to This | # ]

I haven't heard lately what happened to the "Unix Source Licenses"
that SCO sold to Sun and M$ but never paid the 95% to Novell. Seems to me that
that revenue would be a nice Thanksgiving gift to Novell. Of course their misuse
of "who" owns Unix will go on (like how many angels dance on the head
of a pin), but the more immediate question is where is Novell's money? Can
Novell freeze SCO's assets? Can you call a liar's ability to lie, an asset? We
may have to, since I think they are flying on hot air......[ Reply to This | # ]

Could someone please explain to me why SCO continues to develop and license
UNIX. It's like trying sell hamburgers under the label "Toxic Foods
Inc."
Why doesn't SCO just sell off its UNIX business to someone who isn't
despised throughout the IT industry? It would be be worth more to them than to
SCO. Is it because of the litigation? Or does SCO believe that the SCO brand
doesn't hurt their business? [ Reply to This | # ]
